I've been trying this new and very simple "elixir" in my mornings since hearing it briefly mentioned on THIS podcast.
Lime (or lemon) salt water. I'm not going to sit here and tell you it's changed my life and that I feel like Superman since I started mixing it in. However, I have noticed that it does tend to wake my mind and body up in the morning from a cognitive and cleansing perspective. It's a subtle difference, but I do feel pretty good after drinking it to start my day. It also takes a lot less time to make than coffee, so that's a bonus.
After some light research, it turns out this elixir isn't a secret. Google it and you'll find a ton of articles noting long lists of health benefits associated with this simple recipe of:
Lemon or Lime - quarter to half depending on how large the fruit is
Himalayan Sea Salt - I give the salt grinder 2-3 turns. Looks like 1/4 tsp is recommended
Water - I fill up a pint glass
A few health benefits that I've seen noted in the light reading I did:
Hydration (obviously)
Helps with digestions
Reduces inflammation
Stabilizes blood sugar levels
Helps with energy
Provides a kick of micronutrients
If you feel compelled to try it, I'd love to hear what your experience is and if you note any similar benefits.
