Take A Deep Breath

I always knew breathing was an important performance tool, but it wasn't until my wedding day that I realized how powerfully and instantaneously it could work.
There I was standing at the alter in front of 300+ loved ones, heart racing, emotions running high and then she appeared. Jenny turned the corner and my heart raced even faster, my eyes watered up and my big grin got uncontrollably bigger. After I received her at the alter, I had this little moment thinking to myself, how am I ever going to get through this ceremony without being a bumbling, emotional mess?
I took a deep breath.
Just as quickly as pressing the refresh button on your browser brings up a fresh new page, my emotions and thoughts were immediately brought back into check and order was restored throughout my mind and body.
I had extreme clarity throughout the rest of the ceremony and the rest of the night. I took this newfound tool and used it over and over again during our wedding to keep me right where I needed to be. It's now my one of my biggest pieces of advice, not only to my other buddies who are about to get married, but to anyone who encounters varying levels of stress on a daily basis (everyone).
Whether you're getting married, presenting at work or just gathering your thoughts and composure amidst whatever chaos the day is throwing at you, sometimes the solution is simple.
Take a deep breath.
